The Real Papua Infrastructure Development Jokowi Era

Transportation Infrastructure Development in Papua

1. Construction of the Trans Papua Road

Trans Papua road project connects the provinces of West Papua and Papua Provinces. The bridge stretches from the city of Sorong to Merauke in Papua Province.

Infrastructure development will improve the community’s economy, reduce income inequality, and high prices in each region.

2. Airport

There are ten airports included in the development plan program in Papua. Six airports were complete, namely are:

  • New Nabire  Airport.

Meanwhile, four other airports in West Papua are:

3. Hamadi-Holtekam Bridge

Hamadi Bridge construction aims to grow a new economic point in Jayapura and its surroundings because it can shorten the distance between the cities of Jayapura and Skouw. Cut the time in half from 2.5 hours to 1 hour.

The public can easily visit  Arso or Koya area locations for future industrial development.

Hamadi bridge is the longest bridge with a distance of 3,200 KM, completed in 28 days of travel.

4. Papua New Guinea Road Border

Construction of Papua Border Road from Merauke to Jayapura. The road construction aims to strengthen unity, open isolated remote areas, minimize prices and improve quality of life.

The border road that was built is Jalan Oksibil–Towe Hitam–Ubrup–Jayapura along 5.52 km.

5. Container Construction Jayapura

The Jokowi government is building a container port connect Jayapura-Sorong-Marauke Sea Toll Port. The goal is to lower the price of food and other necessities.

In addition, there is also the construction of Nabire Port, Moor Port, Serui Port, Domako Port, and Kaimana Port in West Papua.

6. Post-Border Infrastructure Development

The government built 7 National Cross-Border Posts (PLBN), spread over seven border locations, in seven regencies/cities, and three provinces.

In 2019, construction of the PLBN will continue by preparing 4 four more units. All plans built are equipped with markets and other basic residential facilities.

Sports Infrastructure Development, PON Papua

  • Orya Genyem Hydropower 2×10 MW, 
  • SUTT 70 kilovolts for the Genyem-Waena-Jayapura area of ​​174.6 kilometers circuit, 
  • Prafi Mini Hydro Power Plant 2×1 25 MW.
  • A 70 kilovolt SUTT in the Holtekamp-Jayapura area of ​​43.4 kilometers,
