The Emergence of Papuan Literature, How Government Efforts?

The Emergence of Papuan Literature – The Land of Papua has a rich variety of cultures and literature that can be written about.

However, until now there have not been many articles about Papua written on websites, thus making their existence less and less.

Therefore, the emergence of Papuan Literature must be fully supported by the government going forward.

How to Respond to the Emergence of Papuan Literature?

The development of the emergence of literature in Papua certainly requires the role of the government and certain parties who can make this happen.

Bearing in mind that society certainly requires proper direction from people who are already proficient. Then, what should the government do about it?

1. Organize Writing Training

The Papua Literary Community (Kosapa) held writing training. So far, this literary community that started with an account on Facebook has opened poetry, short story and essay writing classes.

Through writing training, Kosapa dreams of the birth of a Papuan writer who is known not only in Papua, but also abroad.

With this writing training, there is great hope for the provincial government of Papua to revive the enthusiasm of the younger generation to achieve their dream of becoming a writer.

Apart from that, in this way it can also make it easier to explore the latent potential of Papuan children.

2. Open the Writing Foundation

If young Papuans do not write, it is the same as burying their own history and the stories of the Papuan people, according to a Papuan author named John Waromi,

Who has produced a Papuan ecological book called “Anggadi Tupa” and had it translated into English.

Lontar Foundation works with Cenderawasih University, Wikimedia Indonesia,

And PT Freeport Indonesia to help this by conducting training on creating entries on Papuan literature, culture, and history on Indonesian Wikipedia.

3. Include All Parties

As previously mentioned, the development of the emergence of Papuan writers must be supported by many parties who participate in helping the project succeed,

For example by bringing in well-known writers from Papua who can provide motivation for the next generation.

As a result, the creative writing workshop was led by Andy Tagihuma, a writer and the founder of the Papuan Literary Community,

Dorothea Rosa Herliany, author of the novel Isinga, Roman Papua, winner of the Khatulistiwa and Ibiroma Literature Kusala.

4. Provide Tools and Media Assistance

There are so many Papuan language, even the number reaches more than 300. It is because of this, the parties find it challenging to advise the following generation regarding literature.

Therefore, in order to combat this, the government must offer resources and media that will aid in disseminating information.

Additionally, the community will undoubtedly be more motivated because of the media.

They have access to a wealth of learning resources thanks to their internet connection. As a result, it is simple for the government to examine the potential of Papuan literary works.

Hopefully the above article can provide motivation to the government in equipping people to want to explore their potential in the field of literature.

The emergence of Papuan literature has certainly had a big impact. On introducing the province more broadly, not only domestically, but abroad.
