2 Indonesia Idol Papuans Who May Have Been Forgotten

1. Joanita Chatarine, aka Joan Idol

One of the Indonesian Idol 2018 dropout singers, Joanita Chatarine aka Joan Idol, has returned to fame after a long absence from the entertainment world.

The Papuan native singer is now starring in a new film, the President’s Bicycle. As is known, Joan Idol is an Indonesian Idol 2018 dropout who was able to survive to the top 3. When Joan reached the grand final of Indonesian Idol 2018, the breathtaking show road halted her in her tracks. However, this did not make her sad, but grateful to the Almighty.

Because the contestant from Kaimana, Papua, has been able to survive in the 2018 Indonesia Idol Papua event to be in the top three positions.

Joan is very happy because she has reached this stage. To be fully honest, Joan says that there is no longer any competitive spirit. But she wants to show her best. It is based on her interview with Grid.ID in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, last 2018. Joan’s competitive spirit was no longer there since she was in the top 15 with other contestants.

“For instance, if the competitive spirit is removed, we used to believe that there is a family below and a competition above, and so on.”

“But maybe around the top 15 or the top 12, Joan just felt that she did the best to give the best from Joan,” continued Joan.

The third winner of Indonesian Idol in 2018 admitted that during the covid-19 pandemic, she lived in his hometown in Papua.

“I work, but it’s a secret. So I spent two years in Papua going back and forth because of work, too,” she said.

The woman, whose real name is Joanita Chatarine, claimed she completed all of her job in Papua in order to remain near her cherished family while battling to survive in an area where the COVID-19 virus was a threat.

“Joan’s work goes into the interior and then goes out, Joan goes to the city and several times to Jakarta. So she goes for a walk while working,” she explained.

Joanita Idol is appreciative, though, for the excellent job she did filling in at the recent Papua PON event amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

2. Nowela Mikhelia, Indonesia Idol Papua

Nowela is searching for Indonesia Idol Papua, whose name was hailed then. This savage Papuan-Batak woman took first place in Indonesian Idol Season 8 in 2013, and not without cause.

Having a championship title does not seem to make Nowela able to exist in the world of singing. There was a time when Nowela felt that her singing had not skyrocketed. Nowela’s career, after seven years of graduating from Indonesia Idol, experienced a decline.

“None of my songs are selling, my work, my off air is decreasing, my demand for singing is decreasing,” she continued.

Inevitably, Nowela sometimes feels sad to see her colleagues succeed in the entertainment world. The woman, whose real name is Nowela Elizabeth Mikhelia Auparay, even admits that she has struggled to maintain her existence as a singer. She even acknowledged that she had to go five months without a job because she couldn’t get any gigs.

“Indeed, at the beginning of the pandemic, the first five months I really had no work at all, I lived completely relying on savings,” she said again. But fortunately, Nowela has a way of dealing with her grief positively.

Final Words

Despite their widespread fame as singers, these women have also branched out into various forms of entertainment, including acting in films, hosting television shows, and becoming influencers. Nowel and Joan’s work as Indonesia Idol Papua will always be a motivation for Papuans who dream of becoming a celebrity.
