George Saa, The Black Pearl of Physics From Papua

Known as the best “black pearl” Papua ever made, George Saa is a genius and one of the most brilliant men alive. He formulated the counter-resistance between two points of the resistor circuit. This formula became known as the George Saa Formula.

But how does a boy who barely attended his grade school become a world-known young physician?

Family and His Early Years

Septinus George Saa born at Manokwari, September 22nd 1986. His father is chief of Teminabuan Forestry Office in Sorong, Papua. He also has four siblings who inherited the smart genes from their father.

Born without any privilege, George Saa, or Oge as people called him, doesn’t make him study. Even though he barely attended his grade school and junior high school year, he never skipped any studying time.

He also makes sure his body is always in a fit condition for any circumstances. That is why not only known as a smart boy, he is also an excellent basketball player.

He seems good at every aspect of his study. Even without decent financial support, it doesn’t make him waver to pursue his dream to learn as much as possible.

The Interest In Physics

If asked why he was interested in physics, Oge himself never knew why. In many interviews, he said that it is not physics he is interested in, but studying itself. He likes to learn about everything, especially science.

He hates studying subjects that make him write too much. But in general, he likes every issue he is thrown into.

His thirst for knowledge then started bearing its fruit. SMUN 3 Buper Jayapura accepted him as a new student. The school provided every student with necessities, from a uniform and allowance to the dorm.

The trigger that made him into a studying frenzy is none other than the internet. When other kids use the internet as a trend maker, the study even further. He found various theories and research from the net by other world psychics.

The Starting Line

The story about the Black Pearl from Papua began when he won the Physics Competition in his region. This achievement made him receive a scholarship to Jakarta from the Papua provincial government.

But the one holding back his start line was his mother. She doesn’t want her youngest to set out to the capital city of Indonesia. She thought it was too early and too far for him to handle.

But it seems that achievement needs some mischief. Franky, his second oldest brother, helped him to leave quietly. Oge only told his mother right before his plane’s departure.

His mother’s sadness at his departure changed into a smile of happiness when Oge won 8th place in the Quantum Math Competition in India in 2003. After that, he won The First Step to Nobel Prize in Physics in Indonesia in 2004.

The Black Pearl Goes Out

Yohanes Surya, the father of physics in Indonesia, began to nurture Oge into a physicist. He then has to present his research in front of the world’s physicist community in Poland. He needs to prove that his formula for calculating the resistor network is his original idea.

He then had an opportunity to learn and research at the Polish Academy of Science for a month for that formula. After his achievement, he then got many support and facilities.

Not long after that, he got an offer from Freedom Institute to attend any college he wanted in any country. After much contemplation, he decided to study aerospace engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology.

Even though he needs some adjustment because of the language barrier, his bright mind shows adaptability quickly. He graduated early and now works at an international oil and gas company. In his spare time, he also continues his research and does some at helping Freedom Institute.
