Early Education
Hermus Indou was born in Manokwari, West Papua, on August 15, 1976. Today his name is known as the leader of Manokwari, a region in West Papua with 107,325 populations. Hermus Indou serves as regent of Manokwari for the period from 2021 to 2026 alongside his vice, Edy Budoyo.
This Manokwari regent, Hermus Indou, attended elementary school at Yayasan Pendidikan dan Persekolahan Gereja-Gereja Injili Minyambouw in 1984 and completed his education in 1990. Later, Hermus Indou continued his education at Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 1 Warmare from 1990 to 1993.
Entering high school, Hermus Indou was registered as a student of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Manokwari in 1990 and graduated in 1995. His following education was university education at the Village Community Development College in Yogyakarta.
During his studies in Yogyakarta, Hermus Indou spent four years before finally taking postgraduate education at Hasanuddin University from 2003 to 2006.
Hermus Indou’s Employment History
Before serving and working as the regent of Manokwari as it is today, Hermus Indou worked as a civil servant in the West Papua Provincial Government. Besides that, Hermus Indou has also been appointed as the chairman of the Regional Executive Board DPD KNPI West Papua from 2008 to 2016.
Hermus Indou also briefly served as manager of Perseman Manokwari (Manokwari Football Association). According to Yan Cristian Warinussy, the administrator of Perseman Manokwari, Hermus Indou decided to resign from this position because he had many occupations as Regent of Manokwari.
Achievements and Awards
With many breakthroughs, this Regent of Manokwari from 2021 to 2026 was recognized as the Leaders of Visionary Award. Hermus Indou received this award from the Alumni Corps of the Islamic Student Association or KAHMI on October 3, 2022.
Hermus Indou received this award because he has participated in the development of the Manokwari Regency. As for some of the breakthroughs that Hermus Indou gave, there were plans for structuring several roads, flyovers, connecting bridges, and stopping buildings that were not following the provisions.
As widely reported, in May this year, a fire hit Wosi Market at Manokwari Regency. The fire source is estimated to have come from the middle of the market, which is too crowded with wooden stalls.
Due to the disaster, Hermus Indou ordered the community to dismantle illegal buildings outside government buildings, so they are not too close together. Furthermore, the local government prepared an emergency booth for traders. Straightaway, he also promised to build a permanent market by 2024.
In addition, Hermus Indou also has a significant role in forming qualified community service resources. Last September, Hermus Indou held basic training for prospective civil servants at the Human Resources Development Center of West Papua Province.
The training he carried out was not without reason. Hermus Indou explained that this training is to form Indonesian Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) characters so that they can serve the community well.
