West Papua Task Force Intensifies COVID-19 Vaccination

The West Papua Province COVID-19 task force continues to intensify COVID-19 vaccination, and the government reported on Friday that 425 people had recovered from the coronavirus. A spokesman for the West Papua COVID-19 Task Force, Arnold Tiniap, in Manokwari, said the recovery of 425 people was recorded from the COVID-19 Task Force reports in six districts and cities.

“A total of 425 people recovered from COVID-19 came from Sorong City 160 people, Teluk Bintuni 114 people, Fakfak 86 people, Manokwari 54 people, Raja Ampat 7 people, and South Sorong Regency 4 people,” said Arnold Tiniap.

He also reported 150 positive cases in nine regions, and one died from COVID-19 in the Manokwari district.

“The total number of active COVID in West Papua has been recorded at 2,557 people and one person has died from COVID-19 from Manokwari,” said Tiniap.

He also hopes that the people of West Papua will complete their immunizations at sites where COVID-19 vaccinations are provided by the local government so that the community can establish immunity immediately. They will be protected from the primary hazards of this virus exposure.

“People who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will recover faster than people who have not been vaccinated, therefore people should not ignore the protocol, and make sure they have been vaccinated too,” said Arnold Tiniap.
