How to Go to Matan Island?

The distance from Sorong City to Matan Sorong Island is estimated to be only 8 miles. The location is right on the west side of Sorong City. Matan Sorong Island’s site is in the Salawati archipelago, Raja Ampat Regency. 

You do this by renting a small boat like a speedboat which residents of Sorong City generally use to go to Doom Island. Then, you can take a ride and take directions to Sar Doom Harbor Pier.

Departing from here, it will take at least 40 minutes to 2 hours to arrive at the destination, according to the intensity of the waves. Therefore, if you depart from Sorong City to Sar Doom Harbor, at least you will be charged 1 million rupiahs per speedboat.

The rental fee is for speedboats ranging from 10 to 15 people. The rental includes return and departure routes. Of course, you can negotiate first with the vehicle owner.

What to Do on Matan Sorong Island?

1. Sunbathing by the Beach

You can lie down on a stretch of sand without needing a mat. Because the grains of sand are lovely and the environment is still well-maintained. Do not forget to apply sunscreen all over the body, especially those exposed to direct sunlight, to maintain your skin. 

2. Fishing

You can choose one of the spots on the sides of the island to catch fish. But if you have trouble, try fishing at the pier. If you get a catch, that’s more than enough for lunch. Alternatively, try negotiating with local fishermen who often hunt around this area.

3. Swim

It’s not complete if you stop by this destination without feeling the atmosphere of the waters. When else can you bathe in a clean and clear place? Don’t waste this opportunity, bring swimming equipment from home. If you are used to seawater, you can even jump right in.

4. Explore the Island Area
