Mathius Fakhiri is a high-ranking police officer who served his duty in Papua. He is the Regional Police Chief of Papua who started his duty on 18 February 2021. Fakhiri is the successor of his predecessor, Paulus Waterpauw. So, here is the short biography of Mathius Fakhiri that you should know!

Mathius D. Fakhiri was born in Manokwari, 6 Januari 1968. He is the son of Lieutenant Colonel Natalis Fakhiri (retired). His father is a respectable police officer, so he wants to follow in his footsteps too. Even though his original dream was to be a pilot, now he has become a successful police officer.

The role model of Fakhiri is definitely his father. In the past, his father served in the midst of all kinds of limitations in the inland. However, his father never gave up and still tried his best to serve the citizens. Every time he returns home, Natalis Fakhiri likes to bring gifts from the community.

That is proof that his father is loved by his people. So, Mathius Fakhiri also wants to be like that. He wants the police and the community to have a close relationship. It is one of the philosophies that both parties should uphold. So, he hopes that the culture in police institutions will change.

Educational Background

In fact, the educational background of Mathius Fakhiri is very amazing. Since his childhood, his father taught him about patriotism. His father emphasized that he must always help others. This inspired Fakhiri to follow in his father’s footsteps. Therefore, he entered the police academy in 1990. 

Before that, he started school at YPK Merauke Elementary School from 1975 to 1981. Then, he enters YPPK St. Thomas Wamena Middle School from 1981 to 1984. After that, he went to Jayapura, Papua, to study at Public High School 2 Jayapura in 1984 to 1987. 

Fakhiri then graduated and entered the Police Academy from 1987 to 1990. After that, he continued his study at STIK/PTIK and graduated in 2001. Then, he entered Sespim Polri and graduated in 2005. However, as if it is not enough, Fakhiri also rolls at Sesko TNI and graduated in 2018. 

Career Background

Not only his educational background, but the career background of Mathius Fakhiri is also brilliant. His first position in the police institutions was Samapta officer. He served at Resor Police Banjarmasin, Regional Police South Kalimantan in 1990. Then, he became the East Banjarmasin Deputy Chief of Police in 1992.

After that, he joined Danton 3/2/B Korps Brigade Mobile Regional Police South Kalimantan in 1994. Then, he moved to Danki 1/A Korps Brigade Mobile in 1995 and to Pasiops Detachment A Pioneers in 1996. 

In 1998, he served as Pama Korps Brigade Mobile Police of the Republic of Indonesia (POLRI). Then, in 199, he became a Danki Regiment I Pioneer Korps Brigade Mobile POLRI. After that, he came back to Papua in 2022 as a Head of the Operations Unit for the Papua Police Mobile Brigade.

Then, he became a Jayapura Deputy Chief of Police in 2003. Two years later, he moved to West Papua to fill the position of Resor Police Kaimana. After that, he became a Deputy Chief of the Mobile Brigade of Papua Police in 2007. Then, Fakhiri came back to Jayapura in 2011 as Jayapura Police Chief.Having returned to South Kalimantan in 2011, Fakhiri came back to Papua in 2014. Then, he became an Intermediate Policy Analyst for the Police Korps Mobile Brigade in 2018. After that, he became the Deputy Chief of the West Papua and Papua Police in 2020. Finally, Mathius D. Fakhiri became the Police Chief of Papua in 2021.
