7,000 MSME Jayapura City Received a Coaching from The Perindagkop Service

Disperindagkop (the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs) Jayapura City provides coaching to 7,000 MSME Jayapura city.

However, there are also 5,000 SMEs that also receive such coaching. In 2022, Disperindagkop has already recorded data of more than 17,000 MSMEs in Jayapura but not all of them receive their coaching.

They not only provide coaching to the MSME but also give them assistance, guidance, and provision. Head of Dinas Perindagkop Kota Jayapura, Robert Awi stated that there are more than 23,000 MSMEs from five different districts, but the coaching is only for 7,000 of them.

This MSME comes with different business types, such as handicrafts, batik, food and beverages, and more. There are 5,000 MSMEs from Orang Papua Asli (OAP) or indigenous while the rest are managed by non-indigenous. The service started coaching in 2012 and since 2015 they do the mentoring up till now.

The Development of MSME Jayapura

The Development of MSME Jayapura

There is a significant development of MSME in Jayapura city because the number is about 5,000 by 2022. The data said that there are more than 17,000 MSMEs within the area while the current one stated 23,000 MSMEs. Thus, the development of these small business units is impressive.

The government prepares facilitators so they can visit each MSME for data and progress. These facilitators have an important role because they have to supervise the MSME to record their progress closely.

In general, Disperindagkop will perform training and coaching about management and finance in order to help succeed the participants. At the end of every year, there will be an evaluation to decide which MSME is qualified for the next year’s assistance and provision.

Each MSME that has passed the qualification will receive the provision for the next two years, but it is in the form of products. The Dinas still have a long list of plans because there are more MSMEs that have not received such coaching and assistance.

They hope that they can perform the coaching well to help the growth of each participant.

Awi said that the coaching and mentoring are focused on MSME Digital because their operation has run well. Unfortunately, they have not yet reached the household industrial level and below due to their poor operational procedure.
