From the coach’s assessment, they have the potential to win medals. Hopefully, this achievement can be a source of enthusiasm, and new athletes in Papua can be like them.

History of NPCI

NPCI is a sports organization with disabilities established on October 31, 1962, by notarial deed No. 71, October 31, 1962. The Disabled Sports Development Foundation (YPOC) is this organization’s official name.

At the VII Musornas YPOC from 31 October to 1 November 1993 in Yogyakarta, by amending Notary Deed number 15, dated 15 December 1993, it was agreed to change the organization’s name to the Board of Trustees for Disabled Sports (BPOC).

The IPC General Assembly then resolved on November 18, 2005, that sports movements and activities for people with impairments must use the word paralympic. Since there are no longer any sports for rehabilitation or recreation, all sports covered by the IPC are accomplishment sports.

The word “paralympic” must appear in the name of the organization for IPC member nations in accordance with this ruling.

A BPOC Musornaslub regarding the organization’s name change took place in Solo on July 27 and 28, 2010. That Musornaslub, resulted in a decision to change the organization’s name from the Disabled Sports Development Board (BPOC) to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), followed by a change in the Notary Deed Number 32 dated 30 August 2010.

NPCI is the only sports organization for persons with disabilities in Indonesia that has the authority to coordinate and guide any and all sports achievement activities for persons with disabilities in Indonesia as well as in international arenas.
