A History in Technology Made by Papua Vocational School Students

Papua vocational school students in Jayapura have made history due to their assembled smartphones and laptops. These amazing youth not only showed their skills and talents but also established them in their technological products.

They are the students of a vocational school in Jayapura, i.e., SMK 3, and are members of Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH).

PYCH is evidence of the government’s commitment in order to developing Papua by improving the quality of its local human resources. Under the supervision of the State Intelligence Service (BIN), many young Papuan are gathered into PYCH to enhance their talents and skills.

Therefore, these young folks can make a history that amazes the Indonesian president, Jokowi, and the people of Indonesia.

Technology Breakthrough by Papua Vocational School Students

Papua Vocational School Students Continue to Innovate

Papua’s technology breakthrough can happen not only due to the amazing talents and skills of these students but also due to BIN’s assistance and supervision. The head of BIN’s Research and Development Center, Armi Susandi, is the man in charge of this student assistance and guidance.

BIN does the coaching and training for these young Papuan in PYCH in order to nurture their creativity and innovations in the information technology field. Thus, they can explore and maximize their potential talents to create new products and innovations.

Papua Youth Creative Hub has been an amazing facility due to its integrated accommodations. They are welcome here so they can maximize their talents as well as get job opportunities for their best benefits.

1. TOP.ID Gadget

BIN entrusted Papuan Muda Inspiratif (PMI) to run the PYCH program so they could carry the responsibility well. PYCH provides an assembling chamber so these young Papuan can have their own space to make their TOP.ID gadget comfortably. They choose to name the product TOP.ID (Torang Papua Indonesia) because they want people to know that indigenous Papua Indonesia makes the products.

The operating system they embedded into the gadget is reliable because it guarantees the data security of each user. The gadgets’ details are also great because they offer many useful features and have decent specifications.

TOP.ID smartphone has a specification as follows:

  • M13 model
  • 12 GB RAM
  • 512 GB ROM
  • Android version 11.0 for its operating system
  • 1440×3040 resolution

We can say that the smartphone is considered advanced due to the above specifications. However, the TOP.ID laptop is as remarkable as the smartphone due to its 2,133 MHz reading capacity and 8,192 MB memory.

PMI’s project manager, Elia Musa Rawar, is going to register TOP.ID gadgets to the Indonesian Intellectual Property Rights in order to protect the products from any future problems.

They have to make sure the product’s rights are secured so they can plan to export the gadget to Papua New Guinea. However, they also want to market the products within the Papua region in order to participate in its development.

2. Mobile Applications

These Papuan talents are amazing because they can also create four mobile applications. These useful applications are as follows:

  • Manajemen Talenta Papua (MANTAP)

It is a helpful application because it can help users get their training and locate the job opportunities according to their respective talents and skills.

  • Aplikasi Pembantu Desa

It is an application for the community leaders to help them actively participate in the region’s development as one of Papua’s empowerment programs.

  • Papua Pacific Park Tour and Travel

A handy application for tourists or anyone who wants to visit Papua due to its available solutions for Papua tourism. You can look for any related recommendations, for example, a place to stay or tourist destinations.

  • Bersih Sampah-Containder

This is a very useful application because it helps users manage everything concerning their trash.

Conclusion

We need to nurture the talents and skills of our young people so they can flourish and be able to create more innovations for a better future. This also applies to these Papua Vocational School Students done by BIN in the PYCH facility so they can excel in the technology and make history.
