LPI Survey: Most Papuan Millennials are Satisfied with President Jokowi

One of the reputable polling agencies, Lembaga Pemilih Indonesia (LPI) has just held a survey that invites Papuan millennials as the respondents. Surprisingly, the result shows that most Papuan youths are proud and satisfied with President Joko Widodo.

The main reason for the high approval rating is Jokowi always supports young people in the region. The president has shown a genuine commitment to improving the lives of young people in Papua by investing in education and infrastructure.

Result of The Survey

Know the results of a survey related to satisfaction with Jokowi's performance from Papuan millennials

The millennials’ satisfaction level regarding Jokowi’s performance as a president touches up to 82.31%. The details of the survey result are as follows.

43.18% of Papuan millennials stated they are proud of the president’s affirmative policies. Besides, 39.13% of millennials said they are proud of their president.

Boni Hargens, as the Executive Director of LPI, explained the result of his survey in Semanggi Jakarta. He explained the survey result during the launch National survey and discussion.

Boni said that Papua young people like Jokowi can take advantage of Papuan Youth Creative Hub (PYCH). This building facilitates young people to enhance their skills, talents, and creativity.

In addition, the survey also asks about young people’s opinions regarding PYCH. Then, 57.61% of the young generation said that PYCH effectively develops a creative ecosystem in this province. Besides, 64.45% of young people stated that PYCH can support progress and enhance the community’s welfare.

Then, 62.54% of young people are optimistic that PYCH can be a place to improve their talent and creativity. Unfortunately, 37.46% of people said that PYCH is useless.

Survey Methodology

LPI uses various methods to record the answer from the respondents. For instance, this polling agency uses WhatsApp, Google Forms, email, and direct interviews to get the answers.

The survey was held from 3 to 9 April 2023. Besides, the respondents of this survey are young people who live in various districts or cities in Papua. The respondents are educated people between 20 and 40 years old.

Meanwhile, LPI uses cluster sampling to select the respondents for this survey. No doubt, this survey only receives the respondents with particular criteria. For instance, this survey is only for people between 20 – 40 years old.

There are 300 respondents to this survey. Besides, the margin of error for the sampling is 5%.

Responses to the Survey Result

Survey Results of Papuan Millennials

Some people respond to the result of the survey conducted by LPI. For instance, Krisno Legowo, a public policy observer, stated that the survey result aligns with the performance and affirmative policy of Jokowi.

During his government era, Jokowi successfully built many infrastructure and public facilities in Papua. For instance, he built the Trans Papua road.

Besides, the presidential instruction also focuses on developing Papua in seven sectors. These sectors are poverty, education, alleviation, health, micro and small business, infrastructure, employment, and sustainable development goals.

Furthermore, Yonan Wahyu, Litbang Kompas researcher, also stated that the LPI survey result is not different from the result of the survey conducted by Litbang Kompas. The result of the Kompas survey shows that the majority of Papuan appreciate Jokowi.

One of the most notable initiatives that Jokowi has undertaken to support young people in Papua is the Papuan Youth Creative Hub. It is an innovative platform that provides young people in Papua access to technology, art, training, and support to develop their talents.

The Papuan Youth Creative Hub is an important investment in the future of Papua’s young people. It is designed to promote creative entrepreneurship. So, young people can develop their skills to succeed in today’s competitive global economy.

The success of the Papuan Youth Creative Hub is a testament to the commitment of President Jokowi to improving the lives of Papuan millennials. It also reflects his vision for a more prosperous and inclusive Indonesia.
