The Short Biography of Paskalis Kocu
Paskalis Kocu was born in Ayawasi, Maybrat Regency, on 9 October 1965. He was elected as a deputy regent accompanying Bernard Sagrim in the 2017 election. Then, Kocu began to serve as deputy regent in Maybrat on 22 August 2017. People know him as a friendly person who very rarely gets angry.
His wife, Paulina Maria Wafom, also works as a civil servant. She is the Head of the Maybrat District Library and Archives Service. From their marriage, they have two children. Their two children are called Raynaldo Kocu and also Stevanus Kocu.
Educational History
In fact, Kocu is an exceptional student back in school. The educational background of Paskalis Kocu is great. He started his school life when he enrolled at YPPK Ayawasi Elementary School. After graduating in 1980, he went to Fakfak to pursue middle school.
He spent three years studying while attending school at YPPK Donbosco Fakfak Middle School. Then, in 1983, he went to Sorong to pursue high school. Kocu was enrolled at YPPK Agustinus Sorong High School and graduated in 1986.
After successfully graduating high school, he went to Jayapura to attend Cenderawasih University. Then, he got his Bachelor’s Degree in 1991. However, getting a Bachelor’s Degree is not enough for him. So, years later, he went to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, to pursue Graduate study.
At that time, he was studying a Master Program in Political Science at Satyagama University. Then, he graduated in 2008.
Career History
Not only his educational background, but the career background of Paskalis Kocu is also great. He started his career as Head Section at Aifat District office, Sorong Regency. At that time, he served there for 11 years, from 1994 to 2005.
Then, he became the Head of Fef District, Sorong Regency. He served for four years, from 2005 to 2009. After his reign ended, Kocu then became the Head of the Regional Development Planning Institution of Maybrat until 2012.
Later, he served as the Head of the Regional Revenue Service of Maybrat Regency from 2012 to 2016. After that, he is running for deputy regent in the election in 2017. At that time, he accompanied the candidate for regent Bernard Sagrim. They were elected and started to do their duty on 22 August 2017.
Sudden Death
Unfortunately, as a deputy regent, Kocu did not complete his five-year term. On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, around 08.30 WIT, he passed away. Though, Kocu was not sick at that time. He was acting as usual and was getting ready to go to work when it happened.
Then, he suddenly fell into the workspace of his house. This incident definitely shocked everyone. His family immediately sought medical treatment and took Kocu to the hospital in Sorong. Unfortunately, Kocu passed away on the spot right after he fell.
The sudden death news of Paskalis Kocu definitely makes the people of Maybrat grieve. He was buried on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at around 10:00 WIT in Ayawasi Village. Two years after his death, Markus Jitmau is the one who replaced his position as deputy regent of Maybrat.
