PTQ Sorong 2023: an Event to Foster Spiritual Mentality

The Public Broadcasting Agency (Lembaga Penyiaran Publik/LPP) of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI)of Sorong, James Awaeh, holds a Qur’an Recitation Week (PTQ Sorong 2023) in order to welcome the 1444H Ramadan. The head of LPP RRI Sorong said they would hold the event yearly because it helps foster the spiritual mentality of Muslims in Sorong.

This event is also important because it helps them learn and test their ability to study the holy Qur’an.  James also mentioned that PTQ helps foster the spiritual mentality of Muslims so they can implement it in their daily lives as religious people. Here are the updates on the event.

James Awaeh mentioned that they are targeting young participants whose ages are 17-25 years old in order to establish a strong spiritual mentality amidst the millennial’s interrelationship. RRI simultaneously holds it is PTQ RRI 2023 in its 67 working units throughout Indonesia. 

This event will be both on the provincial and municipal levels. Sorong is among its working units entrusted to hold the event, so the local government tries to prepare it well.

The acting mayor of Sorong, George Yarangga, officially opened the event through the head of Sorong City Social Service, Fauji Fatah. Yurangga said that the government appreciates the event due to its value and decency. 

He later said this event is important because it helps Muslims establish and improve the conception of their religious values. Thus, since the cause is one of the development programs in the religious field, then they should carry on PTQ Sorong for the best future outcome. 

The government also hopes that the religious value established by the event will inspire every Muslim to live peacefully and harmoniously amidst the diverse society.

Sorong PTQ event consists of two categories, i.e., Tilawah (recitation) and Tausiah (sermon speech)so the participants can choose one that suits their talents well.  Here is the winner of Soron PTQ 2023 in both categories:

1. Recitation (Tilawah)

These winners will represent Sorong at the national level, so they still need to work on their talents for a bigger competition.

Tausiah winners will represent Sorong to compete in Manowari. Should they become the Manokwari winner, they will represent Korwil Nusantara II of West Papua.

The Preparation of PTQ Sorong 2023

The Preparation of PTQ Sorong 2023 Runs Smoothly

The Sorong government showed its seriousness in preparing the PTQ, including preparing for Logo PTQ RRI 2023 at the venue. They held a technical meeting in the D-3 to ensure everything is ready. This technical meeting gathered all the participants, the committee, and the judges.

In this meeting, the participants must take their participant numbers first to prepare themselves for the upcoming competition. The judges briefed the participants with information about the competition procedure so they could also learn and obey the procedure and rules.

Some of the participants have already competed in the previous PTQ, so they are more experienced than the new ones. However, several participants from the previous PTQ could not complete this again due to their age.

Conclusion

Pekan Tilawatil Quran RRI 2023 in Sorong is a positive event due to its value to the community, especially for Muslims. Thus, the Sorong government is all out in preparing for the event so it can run well. 

The head of LPP RRI even said that PTQ Sorong 2023 is a means to foster the spiritual mentality of Muslims so they can implement religious values in their daily lives.
