This island lies in the south of Manokwari Regency and the north of Teluk Wondama Regency. Rumberpon Island has a serene atmosphere both on land and in the ocean. Because of that, visitors to the area may think they are on a private island.

Another of Rumberpon Island’s remarkable features is its unusual wildlife, including dugongs, cuscus, sea eagles, and deer birds (cervus timorensis).

Speedboat travel from Manokwari to this location takes 5.5 hours, so getting there takes some time. Another option is to go from Manokwari to Ransiki first by land for three hours, then to Rumberpon Island by speedboat for another two hours.

1. Exploring Many Tourist Attractions

Near Isenebuai Village, Rumberpon Island, there is a mangrove forest and a long sandy beach and meadows at the back of the village. Meanwhile, in Yomakan Village, there is a stretch of garden, namely the Kima garden, which is fostered by a group of women (Mama Ira), where visitors can find various clams in the Cenderawasih Bay National Park area. 

Moreover, there are also archaeological sites named the Suwef Imande Kamberei Site and the Inurikiyari Site on this island. Archaeological remains in the form of pieces of human skeletons can be found at both of these locations.

2. Discovering Rare Animals

A variety of uncommon animals on this island are infrequently seen in other parts of Indonesia. Here, you can observe white-tailed eagles soaring over the skies at will. In addition, you will be able to witness deer birds and flocks of cuscus (cervus timorensis).

Actually, there is a tourist hut belonging to the Cenderawasih Bay National Park Center (BBTNTC), which can be used as a tourist inn. If you don’t want to stay in a tourist lodge, you can camp around the location of the tourist lodge in the shade of lowland forest trees.
