3. Tugu Trikora Wersar 

This place is historic because it is where the Indonesian Air Force arrived in its Komando Trikora operation to free Papua in 1962. In fact, Wesar is the first place to raise the Indonesian flag in Papua.

Port of Sorong was established as a Container Terminal by the Head of the Nautical and Port Authority Office (KSOP Kelas I), Jece Julita Piris, and Prasetiyadi as Chief Director of Pelindo IV. The mayor of Sorong, Lambert Jitmau, also attended the event held on Monday, 20 September 2022.

According to the mayor, this event is incredible because it helps Sorong to reach its highest potential as a notable region in eastern Indonesia. In fact, the port of Sorong is indeed the traffic transit for tourists heading to Raja Ampat.

However, this port also became the home base for oil companies within the region. This way, it becomes one of the biggest east Indonesian container activities. Being the Container Terminal Operations, Piris said that Port of Sorong’s operation would be maximized 24/7 to meet the increasing incoming commodities. 

The port must be ready at any time because all the commodities will have to transit here. Thus, the loading and unloading process will be faster. This way, the officers can ensure the distribution process runs well.

The Corporate Secretary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, Widyaswendra, claims they will do their best to guarantee the logistic flow efficiently. This way, Sorong Papua container port will be maximized to its highest potentials for the best result.
