This is the highest mountain in this province, with an elevation of 3000 meters above sea level. It is located in Tambrauw and is about 28,8 km from Kwoor District. It’s a strato mountain, and it is very remote. This mountain is barely possible to visit, although it might have amazing things to offer from the heart of the mountain. 

Mount Arfak

The highest point of Mount Arfak is only 5 meters below Mount Kwoka, with a height of 2555 meters above sea level. It is located in the northeast of the Bird’s Head Peninsula. This is part of the Manokwari district, which allows you to see the view of the city from a height. This mountain is one Natural Reserve area that protects the rainforest with its ecoregion Vogelkop Montane. 

Mount Arfak in West Papua has many interesting things for visitors. This mountain has two lakes called Anggi Giji dan Anggi Gida. Anggi Giji is also known as the male lake, and Anggi Gida is a female lake. Hills only separate these two lakes, and both lakes have an outstanding view and cold fresh air. 

Mount Mebo

This is the third-highest mountain, with a height of 2939 meters above sea level. Mount Mebo is also located in Manokwari, about 25 km from the city. It’s also part of the Arfak mountains. The typical characteristic of Papua’s mountains is that it’s rich in flora and fauna. This mountain also offers a great view. 

Furthermore, although this mountain is remote, some outsiders live in this mountain area. They come from many places outside West Papua and make money there by running some business, or they are assigned from their office to live and work there.  

Mount Umsini

Mount Umsini is the next highest peak in Manokwari. Its height is 2735 meters above sea level. This is also located in the Arfak mountains in Manokwari. If you want to visit this mountain, you need to go about 75 km to the south of the city. An interesting fact about this mountain is that Umsini is also used for naming one of Pelni ships, Indonesia’s company in sea transportation. 

Mount Niefeb 

The next highest top of the mountain in this province is Mount Niefeb. This mount is also located in the Arfak mountains. This mountain is also called Mount Nefeb. In fact, you can find many high peaks in this mountain area. Niefeb is 2.726 meters above sea level. The environment in this mountain is quite typical of other parts of the Arfak mountains. It’s surrounded by a jungle with various exotic animals and some plants that you haven’t seen before.
