Yonif Raider 514 Kostrad Saved Starved Residents from the Papuan Forest

Yonif Raider 514 Kostrad stole the public’s attention due to their action in saving tens of starving residents from the Papuan forest. The residents from Koroptak District were frightened and worried due to their fear of the Papuan armed criminal groups.

Around 52 people tried to avoid the criminal groups so they decided to leave their homes in Koroptak District. Yonif 514 Papua found them in a forest in Kenyam District, Kabupaten Nduga while patrolling through the area. These residents have already walked through the forest for four days so they were very tired and starved.

Head of Dansatgas Yonif R 514/SY, Letkol. Inf. Rinto Wijaya then decided to transport those residents on their military vehicle to a police station in Nduga. Rinto confirms that these residents are under the protection of his squad while staying in Keenyam District.

This is not the first time for Yonif Raider 514 because they also have done the same many times before

Yonif Raider 514 Papua Contribution to The Locals

TNI-Polri Papua

Yonif 514 Papua is very helpful because they provide logistics to the locals. They also provide moral assistance to help eliminate the residents’ trauma of KKB terror. This raider has already done so much more for the locals, such as the following:

  • Rescuing 33 Residents from Nduga Region

The residents were worried about the burning of the Susi Air within their region by the armed terrorist separatists.

  • Solve the Water Problem in Nduga District

Clean water supply has been a problem in the Nduga region, so Yonif 514 and its Regent tried to solve it. People generally rely on rainwater for their water supply, thus, they need a better supply to meet their daily needs.

Yonif 514 checks the water sources by using a Geoelectric tool so they can detect the right location of a water source before doing the drilling.

  • Distributing Groceries

Early in January 2023, Satgas Yonif 514 invaded the residents’ kitchen to distribute groceries to the locals. They also cook together with the locals to build a good bond with them. However, the main purpose of this event is to help increase the locals’ economic stability to improve their welfare.

  • Ensuring The Locals’ Safety with The TNI-Polri Papua Join Patrol

This is important in stabilizing the locals’ security in the Kenyan region.  This joint patrol is also good for TNI and Polri because it creates synergy and cohesiveness when securing the assigned area.

  • Free Shaving for the Locals

Yonif 514 performs a free shaving service at the end of every month to facilitate the locals who need their hair cut and shaved. Previously, the locals shave their hair with razor blades that hurts their heads so Yonif 514 started the service to help them do it better.

Conclusions

Being the state servant, Yonif 514 has done its best to carry out the responsibility because they have done plenty of actions to help the locals. The above-mentioned contributions are only a few examples due to all they have done.

Thus, we should be grateful for Yonif Raider 514 Kostrad because they will do their best to protect and serve the residents.
