When talking about the sea nature, Papua cannot be excluded. Its beauty was so mesmerizing that it made many people want to come here to explore and to preserve nature like Barefoot Conservation.
This conservation is focused on marine conservation especially in Raja Ampat Papua Indonesia. They use community awareness as a tool to gain benefit for the local people. Therefore, these people could understand the benefits of preserving nature, especially the marine.
Barefoot Conservation: Marine for the Life of People
To understand more about the organization, the Barefoot Conservation is a new non profit organization. It aims to raise the community awareness of marine life and to help preserve nature. They have a purpose, which is to engage, educate, and also empower the Indigenous Papuan people so they can make conservation that is sustainable.
Thye use community projects to reach their mission. Using these projects, they had gained some information or insight about the values and also the needs of the Indigenous Papuan people. And also how the conservation activity of the marine in this place could be integrated sonit can be useful for these communities.
This conservation has strategies to help the Papuan people build the region so they can survive climate change, globalization, economic, and also ecological problems. He majored in the marine research program. The research is to monitor and understand the effect of climate change, pollution, and overfishing on marine life in this area.
Barefoot Conservation Research Result
The results of the research will be used by the local government, community, and many more to prevent any risk of damaging the ecosystem of the sea.
To volunteer on the conservation, is a very much a kind decision for you. Beside getting all the best views of Raja Ampat, you can also get to know that your contribution is worth it. The fee used in these projects is mostly given to the community to build kindergarden of community center. You will work with the staff and CEO mostly not being paid on doing these projects. Your contribution will also help them to maintain their vital needs in medicine and education.
The conservation will employ some full time teachers from Indonesia to teach in this region. They will teach in four different schools in the village. Along with the volunteer’s help, these teachers will help to write plans for the lessons, teach on the lessons, and work closely with the students so they can form a good relationship with them. Some of the teachers will teach some kids from grade 1 until 6.
The money used in this project will go to their community project like Ocean Warrior. With this project, we help educate the children and the people to keep some plastic trash from the ocean. And also help with the kids health program such as their dental hygiene.
By helping the Indigenous Papuan people, you can help to raise their life situation and also help to maintain the sea environment for the better. Especially when people have gained so much from nature. Conservation helps people to repay nature’s kindness.
