Ministry of Health Prepares West Papua General Hospital to be a National Referral
The Ministry of Health has prepared the West Papua General Hospital to become a hospital with national standards. The health workers in this hospital are able to handle heart disease, cancer, kidney and stroke. This appointment made in the next two years.
This is also the mission of the Ministry of Health, especially Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who said he would soon issue a Decree regarding the West Papua General Hospital to become the main reference for people with stroke, kidney, heart and cancer.
The West Papua General Hospital will also be specially prepared to handle all maternal and child health problems. The two diseases that are the main focus are dystocia and obstructed labor. Given that the level of sufferers in West Papua is also still high.
Mission of Ministry of Health Prepares West Papua General Hospital
Not only focusing on heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and also cancer, obstructed labor also has a high enough risk of death so it must get fast treatment for sufferers. This is also one of the major missions of the ministry of health in Indonesia.
In order to realize this mission, the Ministry of Health is also working with the West Papua Regional Government to upgrade the Regional General Hospital class from C to B class. Besides that, it also prepares various facilities and human resources needed according to expertise.
The Ministry of Health also hopes that after the inauguration, the operational permit for the establishment of the West Papua General Hospital must also immediately issued from the district level. Furthermore, registration can be done to the center to be promoted to class B.
Governor Inaugurates West Papua General Hospital
In May 2022, the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan with dr. Azhar Jaya has inaugurated the operation of the West Java Provincial General Hospital. The exact location is in Amban Village, Manokwari Subdistrict, Barat, Manokwari Regency.
The construction of this type C hospital stands on an area of 14,406 hectares which has cost as much as 436 billion rupiah. This development carried out since 2015 during the reign of Governor Abraham Oatururi.
Governor Dominggus Mandacan also said that the work in the future will be much more difficult than other than inaugurating the operation of the hospital building. The presence of this hospital is certainly a form of effort to improve the health status of the local community.
West Papua General Hospital with Improved Health Facilities
The Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan said that the West Papua General Hospital was not only a large health center but also had a luxurious and large building. Besides that, it also improves services almost the same as national hospitals.
The Ministry of Health also said that its efforts will continue to encourage the West Papua General Hospital to become a referral hospital at the national level.
In addition, it has also succeeded in becoming a reference for the treatment of stroke, heart disease and cancer, especially in Papua region.
Given that heart disease, stroke and cancer are still the biggest contributors to death in Indonesia. Therefore, health facilities must improved to reduce and anticipate the death rate due to the disease.
Indeed, there are several hospitals in West Papua that have been established before. But currently the local government is focusing on the construction of the West Papua General Hospital which will become a national reference.
