After receiving the PPKM award certificate from the President, the director of West Papua Hospital states that he will commit to improving WSG service in the laboratory. This hospital receives this award along with other 10 laboratories that are equipped with Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) equipment.

The hospital will optimize the use of WSG equipment to handle various health problems. For instance, doctors can use this equipment to handle various diseases such as infections, stroke, and cancer.

Arnoldus explained that WGS is often used for genetic research. This equipment is installed in the laboratory of West Papua General Hospital. So, the medical staff can use it to test the urine and blood of the patients.

With the help of this equipment, West Papua Hospital can treat patients with serious diseases such as cancer and heart disease. As a result, it is not necessary to take patients to other hospitals outside the region.

Arnoldus also explained that the hospital can use WSG to treat other diseases such as malaria and TBC. For your information, a lot of Papuans suffer from these diseases. Unfortunately, the hospital needs medical personnel and reagents to maximize the use of WSG.

So, he hopes that the government can give more funds for medical equipment procurement. Also, he expects that the government can add more medical staff. This way, the hospital can improve its performance to provide the best health service for communities.
