PYCH Containder Apps to Simplify Waste Management

Something interesting happened during the inauguration of the Papua Youth Creative Hub. The event is already planned and scheduled beforehand. After the ceremony, the president took a tour around the building to check on the facilities. The President had an interesting interaction with the young Papuans who presented their PYCH Containder apps.

The new facility has indeed opened a new creative opportunity for young Papuan officially.  Although PYCH was just officially inaugurated on 21st March 2023, the youth of Papua already took an early start to work on something creative. And the event makes the perfect time to show the result to the president.

Introducing Containder Apps

PYCH Containder Apps

It was a short presentation, but President Joko Widodo noticed the application has big potential. The young generation of Papua stopped him from showing their Containder application. They developed this app after they use the facilities at PYCH in Jayapura

Containder is a waste management application. President Joko Widodo had the chance to use Containder and learn how to operate it. The development team was ready to explain the details of the apps. How to operate it? What is the meaning of each color? The development team has a detailed answer.

So here is how the app works:

  1. Users can connect this app to the incinerator.
  2. Through this app, users can manage and monitor their waste disposal.
  3. The status will appear in the apps, starting from pick-up by the waste collector until the final stop at the incinerator.

During the presentation, the development team also ask for support from the President. So they can request the Ministry of Environment to install Containder in all cities all over Indonesia as well as another ministry that needs waste management apps.

As we all know, waste is a serious problem, especially in big cities. People need to put extra effort into waste management. Or else there will be piles of waste that will only bring new problems. This is the initial idea of the creation of Containder.

President Joko Widodo welcomes the helpful apps. He hopes there will be more people who know about the apps and use them. People of Indonesia can use this app too.

Operating Containder Apps

The start-up that develops Containder consists of all Papua youth. Billy Mambrasar, the advisor for this app stated his wish to have more young Papuans take the stage.

Technology gives a perfect way to showcase the skills of the young generation of Papuans. Moreover, there are numerous of them studying abroad. It is about time to take part in technology development in Indonesia. For example, to help create apps that are useful for daily life.

Containder is a simple app with a big role in daily life. Billy Mambrasar further explained Containder has four main features:

  1. The first feature is monitoring to observe activities from waste pick-up to the TPS status.
  2. The second feature is reporting, where the waste collector reports waste pick-up.
  3. The third feature is a payment where user can send their waste management fee from a digital wallet.
  4. The fourth feature is the support/call center, where users can send complaints related to waste management.

Before being presented to the President, the people in Teluk Bintuni already use Containder apps for some time, and there were no issues related to the use of this app. Soon, this app will reach a wider area since it is ready to implement in Biak, Jayapura, Ambon, and Bitung.

This app is designed for small-scale use at the level of regency. However, expanding its ability to cover waste management nationwide is not impossible.

Having the chance to present PYCH Containder apps is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Indra Makalew, the Managing Director of Containder hopes this app can take part in solving waste management issues in cities around Indonesia.
