Television broadcasts have become one of the cheapest public entertainment forms. So, it is for people in West Papua. Several televisions stations in West Papua are still used as an information and educational media there.
Analog Station
Televisions stations in West Papua have analogue broadcasts or PAL stations. Even though the image brightness is less sharp, this station is still broadcasting until now in Manokwari. Through the UHV or VHF channel, there are seven televisions stations in West Papua.
The first TV station is RCTI West Papua. People can access the channel via channel 12 UHF at a frequency of 224.25 MHz. If you search for television channels, RCTI stations will catch up early.
The next channel is on 24 UHF, namely iNews Manokwari. The TV station is on the 495.25 MHz frequency. Then there is NET Manokwari at a frequency of 511.25 MHz. So even though it is a newly emerging TV station, NET is already affordable in West Papua.
Other television stations in West Papua are TransTV, SCTV Manokwari and MNCTV. All three are on channels 32, 36 and 42 UHF, respectively. Not far from NET, the frequencies of these three stations are still in the 500 MHz range.
Digital Station
Along with the Indonesian government’s program to close analogue broadcasts, digital TV broadcasts have become its replacement. West Papua also welcomes this program by having several Digital TV broadcasts in several districts.
West Papua 1
Television list in West Papua in digital broadcasts are West Papua 1, which includes Sorong City and District. Located on channel 28 with a frequency of 530 MHz, TVRI Sorong offers five additional virtual programs.
The shows are TVRI National, TVRI West Papua, TVRI World, TVRI Sport and Kompas TV Sorong. As the name implies, the public can access various information according to the segment.
National TVRI presents news and information broadcasts from all over Indonesia. Meanwhile, local news will be focused on TVRI West Papua. Meanwhile, information and education from the international world are broadcast through TVRI World.
West Papua 2
The following is Papua Barat 2 for the Raja Ampat region. Still, on channel 28 and the same frequency, TVRI Piaynemo or TVRI Rutum also broadcast four news and information broadcasts. The shows are TVRI National, TVRI West Papua, TVRI World, and Sport.
West Papua 3
Tambrauw Regency also has access to televisions stations in West Papua. On channel 33 and frequency 570, TVRI Bikar or TVRI Wilhelm Roumbouts broadcasts the same four virtual programs as the previous stations.
West Papua 4
Digital televisions stations in West Papua on this channel covers a broader area: Manokwari Regency, South Manokwari Regency and Arfak Mountains Regency. There are two channels, namely 28 and 34 UHF.
On frequency 530 is TVRI Manokwari with additional virtual broadcasts from NET Manokwari. Meanwhile, at 578 MHz, SCTV Manokwari broadcasted ten very entertaining virtual shows.
The shows are SCTV Manokwari, Indosiar Manokwari, Moji, Mentari TV, Trans TV Manokwari, Trans 7 Manokwari, RCTI West Papua, MNCTV West Papua, GTV Manokwari, and iNews Manokwari.
West Papua 5
This station is televisions stations in West Papua that covers the Maybrat Regency. The station is on channel 33 and frequency 570. In addition, TVRI Mukamat, Temel and Sorowan broadcasts four other virtual shows.
West Papua 6 and 7
This station covers South Sorong Regency on channel 28 and frequency 530. The broadcast is TVRI Kasweri Migori, Mugim, Ween and Haimaran. The station also broadcasts four other virtual shows.
Meanwhile, West Papua 7 covers Teluk Bintuni Regency with the same virtual broadcast as West Papua 6. The West Papua 7 is one of digital televisions stations in West Papua on channel 46 have a frequency of 674 MHz and are broadcast through the TVRI Bintuni station.
