5 Strategic Tourism Villages in Kaimana

Meanwhile, the following are 5 strategic tourism villages the government will develop using the spatial plan formulated with Udayana University.

KSP Area 1

Tourism Strategic Areas in Kaimana Area 1

The first tourism strategic area in Kaimana Papua, KSP 1, includes several villages like Kampung Goromajaya, Maimai, and Marsi. Some of these villages have many tourist attractions, such as underwater tours, bird of paradise observation spots, mangrove forest tours, etc.

In Marsi village, for example, the government and local community leaders also empower cultural tourism such as woven art, traditional dance, culinary arts, etc. Artificial tourism, such as the rainbow bridge and viewing tower, also exists in this village.

KSP Area 2

The villages that are part of KSP 2 include Namatota, Siawatan, Teluk Triton, and Lobo villages. One of these villages, Namatota Village, is a hidden gem in Kaimana. Like KSP 1, several tourist objects in KSP 2 are also a Marine Conservation Area.

Namato Village, a village separated from the main island of Papua, is the first tourist village in Kaimana Regency.

The tourism potential that the government can develop from this KSP includes tourism activities such as diving, snorkeling, hill tracks, tours of prehistoric sites in the form of caves with karst rock walls, art tours of woven tomang (South Papua’s typical noken), etc.

KSP Area 3

If infrastructure development in KSP 1 and 2 is completed, the government will continue to develop KSP 3. Meanwhile, the villages included in KSP 3 are Kambrauw Village and Arguni Bay.

These villages, with a total area of 5,000 square kilometers, have a natural beauty that has not been managed optimally. In fact, in Arguni Bay, for example, along the island’s coast, there are white sand and karst cliffs, which are suitable as tourist destinations.

KSP Area 4

The villages included in KSP 4 are Kampung Yamor and Teluk Etna. Like several previous villages, tourism objects that have the potential to attract tourists in this area include tourism in tropical forests, lakes, beaches, and many others.

KSP Area 5

The last strategic tourism area is the Buruway district, whose capital is Kumbala Village. Like several previous villages, the government has not explored tourism in this district much. Meanwhile, one of the famous tourist destinations in this district is the Karawawi waterfall which has a height of about 140 meters.

So, the government’s efforts to develop 5 tourism strategic areas in Kaimana hopefully can also boost the local community’s economy as well as develop West Papua tourism well. In fact, the government is also actively socializing and educating the public to maintain a clean environment.
