The Indonesian government and Papua separatist have always been in conflict. This happened even after the Act of Free Choice in the 1960s, when Indonesia claimed their sovereignty over Papua. Even now, these conflicts develop into some West Papua insurgency on the matter of some violence against the local worker.

West Papua Insurgency That Has Happened
The Papua military chief, Major General Teguh Muji Angkasa told the reporters about the arrested soldiers who committed murder and mutilation on 22 Agustus 2022. The six people arrested in this abusive tragedy are involved in the indigenous Papuan dead and the mutilation. Teguh explained that they have arrested the accused and will not tolerate their action and will punish them accordingly.
The body of the Papuan people was found in Mimika district by some resident of Iwaka village right in the river. The body was discovered in four sacks. Each of the sacks contains a torso that lost its heads and both of the legs. Another two were found separately. These two were containing the eight legs and four heads.
According to the police, the bodies of the mutilated mens were placed into the sacks along with some rocks and then thrown into the river near the village. The victims of the mutilation were the residents of the Nduga district. The victims, according to some reports, were looking for some guns. The reported guns were supposedly for the separatist group in Papua. The gun was said to be an AK-47 rifle with a price over $16,800.
The Beginning of West Papua Insurgency Accusation
The perpetrators set fire to the van and took the money away. After conducting research to find the culprit, police finally arrested six soldiers of military police. Many have asked the president to do justice for this crime. They urged them to punish the culprit with a death penalty. The representative said that this is a crime against human rights and asked if the government will fulfill their demand.
After some time, the police finally ended the investigation with the culprit and the other witness in September 2022. The perpetrators in this crime were Major HFD, Captain DK, Praka PR, Pratu RAS, Pratu RPC, Pratu ROM and three others civilians. The documents of the investigation will be given to the relevant authority to be processed as quickly as possible. The police make sure that any crime like this will get a punishment that is decent for their crime. The culprit now is in the cell at Waena, Jayapura and other were at the Subdenpom Timika Papua.
Many people urge the police to give them the right punishment and jail time. The others also ask that the six of the military police be sentenced to death. Hence, the government asks people not to drag along some hoaxes that could happen after the incidents. Therefore, there will be more conflicts because of this news.
