All ASN in Papua has to enhance their competency. There is no exception for the ASN in the newest provinces on this island, including South Papua, Central Papua, and Papua Pegunungan.

To enhance the knowledge and skill of Papua’s State Civil Apparatus, The State Administration Agency (LAN) conducts an internship program for ASN. The development of the ASN’s competency is an urgent issue.

Then, Basseng also revealed that there are various ways to develop competency. The most effective way is through an internship program. It is because this program can accelerate the performance of ASN in Papua. Automatically, it can improve the Papuan’s welfare as well.

The State Administration Agency has initiated an internship program for Papua’s ASN. The main objective of this program is to improve ASN competency and professional development.

The internship program is designed to provide ASN in Papua with hands-on experience in various government agencies. So, this program enables them to learn from experts and gain practical skills that they can apply to their work.

Besides, the program aims to expose ASN in Papua to different working environments and cultures. It will help them to broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of the government’s operations.

Basseng explains that the apprenticeship program for ASN in DOB Papua is a strategic and effective effort to meet the needs of various fields of governance. For instance, the government requires competent ASN for regional financial planning and management, accountability, and procurement of goods.

This apprenticeship program has been started since November 2022. During this program, ASN in new Papua regionals has to participate in the classical and non-classical learning process.

The State Administration Agency collaborates with several government agencies to conduct this apprenticeship program. For instance, ASN from Papua joins an internship program in Bappenas, LKPP, and the Ministry of Finance.

Besides, some conduct apprenticeship programs in the provincial government in West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta. Furthermore, other partner agencies for this program are Surabaya City, Banyuwangi, Malang, and Tangerang governments.

These agencies provide a better understanding of Papua’s ASN regarding critical thinking and work ethic. Furthermore, by joining this internship program, ASN can practice how to work in government agencies. Then, they can implement it in their workplace in Papua.

The result of the ASN Internship program in 2022 was satisfying. Many State Civil Apparatuses from Papua can create innovations to boost the welfare and development in their regions.

Additionally, the head of LAN, Adi Suryanto, stated that he really appreciates Papua Province. It is because it can receive accreditation to conduct National Leadership Training.

After successfully conducting an apprenticeship program for ASN from Papua in 2022, LAN will organize this program this year.

Agus Sudrajat, the Deputy for Management Research and Innovation for ASN stated that there should be a collaboration from several parties to ensure the success of this program.

Additionally, LAN also needs some facilities, coaching material, and a fund to ensure the apprenticeship program runs well.

He also hopes that the internship program for ASN can create more agents of change and innovators to boost Papua’s prosperity. If the program succeeds, all parties, including ASN, the government, and Papuans, can benefit.
