Cenderawasih Bay

Before going further to the main topic, you need to know about Cendrawash Bay.

The Cenderawasih Bay marine environment is home to a variety of plants and animals that are found on land, in islands, and in the nearby sea waters.

The purpose of this area also includes life support system protection.

The Cendrawasih Bay National Park region spans the Auri Islands chain from Rumberpon Island in the north to Tanjung Kwatisore’s east.

The coral reefs of the 18 islands that are in the core zone, protection zone, and limited use zone are included along the 500 km of the Main Island of Papua’s coastline.

The establishment of the Cendrawasih Bay National Park is intended to protect and conserve the area’s functionality as well as the variety of flora and fauna species and their local ecosystems.

In order to support the sustainable use of live natural resources and their ecosystems, as well as to protect life support systems,

Management through Zoning

A zoning system is used to manage national parks, which are natural conservation areas with native ecosystems that are used for science, research, recreation, and many other.

A core zone, a utilization zone, and other zones as needed make up the zoning system. Here are the complete  explanations!

1. Core Zone

Core area It serves as a strict protection zone to preserve wildlife and habitats of high conservation value, including rare, threatened, or endangered species and habitats,

Sensitive habitats that are easily disturbed, breeding grounds for potentially useful species, and good examples of natural habitat types.

This zone is very important to support the survival of every ecosystem that grows and develops around Cenderawasih Bay.

The guard is carried out strictly for fear of damage by local residents and irresponsible outsiders.

2. Protective Zone

The Protective zone is located around the core zone. In order to prevent actions in other zones from directly affecting the core zone, the core zone will be protected and will act as a buffer between them.

Here there are various activities to protect the ecosystem in the core zone.

The goal is that if something unexpected happens, the core zone can be protected by the presence of this protective zone.

One another will continue to strengthen the guard before the damage hits the core zone first.

3. Limited Utilization and Buffer Zone

The next zone is limited utilization and buffer zone. Limited utilization zone is a place where locals and visitors can still use natural resources in the traditional ways for their daily needs,

But with supervision and regulations to prevent habitat damage and the poaching of rare, endangered, or protected species.

Meanwhile, buffer zone is a space set aside for security and other purposes outside the previously listed zones.

Every activity that is carried out not from the three zones above is usually carried out in this buffer zone so as not to interfere with activities that have been well planned.

Those are the information related to the division of zones to protect each area in Cenderawasih Bay.

We as humans should participate in protecting the diversity of flora and fauna as well as the environment in order to create a beautiful nature.

In addition, maintaining the extinction of every living thing is also our duty as humans.
