DPR RI Ensures Implementation Central Papua JKN Program Goes Well

The 9th Commission of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI)  conducted a working visit to Central Papua. The main objective of the visit was DPR RI ensures implementation of the Central Papua JKN program goes well. Also, they provide maximum benefits to all communities in Central Papua.

The working visit of DPR RI was conducted in Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, on April 14, 2023. The delegation was led by the Vice Chairman of the IX Commission, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, who oversees health, employment, population, drug, and food supervision.

As a country with the fourth largest population in the world, Indonesia faces significant challenges, particularly in improving the healthcare sector and providing equal access to healthcare for all citizens. 

One of the government’s efforts to achieve equal access to healthcare is by launching the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).

Appreciation from Dirjampelkes BPJS Kesehatan

Appreciation for Central Papua JKN program

Lily Kresnowati, the Dirjampelkes of BPJS Kesehatan, expressed her appreciation for the Government of Central Papua for almost achieving the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Non-Cut Off of BPJS Kesehatan. According to Lily, UHC has helped provide social protection to ensure everyone can meet their basic health needs.

Dirjampelkes BPJS Kesehatan and the Provincial Health Office also focus on adding advanced services, such as Cath Lab, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, especially in the eastern regions of Indonesia. This will certainly help improve the quality of health services in the area and improve public health access.

Dirjampelkes BPJS Kesehatan also added that they hope the Program JKN services can be further optimized for efforts to prevent all types of diseases in Papua Tengah Province, especially related to stunting. 

With a guaranteed Program JKN service, it is hoped that people can immediately receive appropriate health care and reduce the risk of stunting.

BPJS Kesehatan Provides Support and Accelerates Claim Payments

In an effort to support the implementation of the JKN in Central Papua Province, BPJS Kesehatan continues to provide the best support to the local government and the community. One form of support is by accelerating claim payments. 

BPJS Kesehatan provides an advance payment for health services. So before being verified, BPJS Kesehatan can provide an advance payment for claim realization. However, BPJS Kesehatan still provides assistance to accelerate the realization of claims and optimize hospitals’ cash flow.

In addition, BPJS Kesehatan is pleased to see that the realization of healthcare costs has increased compared to 2020. It is increasing by IDR 12.7 billion. 

This shows that the utilization of healthcare services has improved in Central Papua Province. However, BPJS Kesehatan requests continuous support from the government and related stakeholders. This aims to further improve access to healthcare for the community.

The role of the JKN program is to provide social protection to ensure that all citizens can fulfill their basic health needs. Therefore, BPJS Kesehatan hopes the JKN service can be further optimized to prevent all types of diseases in Central Papua Province, especially those related to stunting. 

With guaranteed JKN services, the community hoped to receive appropriate healthcare and immediately reduce the risk of stunting.

BPJS Kesehatan is committed to providing its best support in implementing the JKN program in Central Papua Province and improving access to healthcare for the community. In addition, they hope for good synergy and cooperation among all parties to achieve equitable and quality healthcare access throughout the country.

With this working visit, the DPR RI ensures the Central Papua JKN Program implementation goes well. They are also committed to continuously monitoring the implementation of the JKN program in the area.
