Government Ways to Conduct Infrastructure Development

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to make efforts to realize infrastructure development in the provinces of Papua. This plan aims to reduce the high poverty rate in remote areas of Indonesia. The government is taking breakthrough steps in infrastructure development with a more focused focus to support this.

With the latest policy, the government dares to allocate funds for infrastructure development up to trillions of rupiah. Funds are prepared to support construction, roads, bridges, settlements, natural resources, and housing. The government seeks to accelerate infrastructure development in West Papua significantly.

The Ministry of PUPR has the best plan for infrastructure development with four programs. The first program focuses on equitable growth for the welfare of the community. Furthermore, this program has affirmative support for improving the human resources of the Papuan people. In addition, there are programs for the implementation of the Cash-Intensive Program.

All of these programs aim to improve the welfare of the Papuan people from the isolation of the region. Furthermore, this program can improve access and connectivity from land. Some of the targeted targets are the Trans Papua Road, the Papua Border Road, and the 1.3 km Youtefa Bridge.

Furthermore, the government also supports the development of Human Resources capacity involving Papuan native partners to obtain maximum results. Plus, this program empowers local business actors to package construction work for infrastructure in Papua. So, this program can provide real solutions and contribute to advancing the Papuan people.

Papua Infrastructure Development Acceleration

The Ministry of Transportation will accelerate infrastructure development to the maximum. One of the infrastructure developments is in the field of transportation. A number of infrastructure in the form of 10 airports, six ports, and several land facilities focuses on the subsequent development. In other words, transportation infrastructure is the sustainable priority of West Papua.

The government wants to accelerate transportation infrastructure development to improve connectivity in Papua. Various infrastructure and transportation facilities in the land, sea, and air transportation sector will focus on infrastructure development. The plan to be built is transportation infrastructure in the two easternmost regions of Indonesia in the air transportation sector.

The Ministry of Transportation will develop ten airports with extraordinary facilities. Facilities are built so that the primary transportation from one place to another can be more accessible. As a result, access to tourism in various regions of Papua can become more manageable. Overall, this will optimally affect the economy of the Papuan people.

In addition to airports, the government will also develop increase the sea transportation sector by building some ports. However, for some of the main ports being constructed, the focus is on Sorong. At the same time, in the land transportation sector, the government will build a bus terminal, water bus docks, State Border Post Facilities (PLBN), and water buses.

Development in West Papua is accelerated to support the government’s program for economic equity. This is why all existing facilities and infrastructure in Papua are immediately built. In addition, this development also provides accessibility in Papua and to all remote areas. It contributes significantly to economic growth and so on
