The PYCH Building is the Answer to the Aspirations of the Papuan Youth and People

The PYCH building, which President Jokowi inaugurated, shows that young people in Papua can affect change, have a significant positive impact on society, and continue to lead the development of cutting-edge technology and innovation.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), officially opened the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building in Jayapura City. In his remark, he acknowledged his deep delight in granting the wish of the 23 young Papuans who had been previously invited to the Merdeka Palace.

The President Hopes There are Talent Development Facilities in Other Regions

Jokowi is really eager to be once again able to recognize that there are resources available to help foster youthful talent in various other fields. He also requested the construction of such structures in a number of other locations, including East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, Maluku, and Aceh.

He acknowledged that he was extremely proud of the PYCH building’s extremely full facilities, which will enable it to nurture young Papuan talent while also advancing the welfare of the people in Cenderawasih Earth. The construction of the Trans Papua Road and other infrastructural improvements, which have the potential to reduce isolation in the Land of Papua and advance society, are two examples of how quickly advances are occurring on Cenderawasih Earth.

President Jokowi is still concerned about Papua in a number of areas, starting with infrastructure improvement and human resource development, which includes helping mothers (Mama Papua) and young Papuans.

At present, there are more than 12,800 Papuan youth members and they will continue to grow and be active in various fields ranging from education and the economy to MSMEs.

Budi Gunawan added that young people in Papua have tremendous potential today and can even invent cutting-edge technology and innovation with their own hands. 

PYCH members from Papua have the ability to design and build cutting-edge digital information technology products, including smartphones and laptops, under the TOP.ID brand. Along with it, they introduced four more cutting-edge programs, including Papua Pacific Park, Clean Trash-Container, Village Assistant Application, and Papuan Talent Management (Mantap).

Furthermore, the Head of BIN, Jend. Pol (Retired) Budi Gunawan also said that the building must become a symbol of development in Papua and even be able to make young Papuans become agents of change. He added that the opening of the PYCH building had the dual goals of encouraging young Papuan talent and acting as a catalyst for the local economy.

Today’s fast-paced information and digital technology landscape requires young talent more than ever to advance, be innovative, and be able to create. The inauguration of the PYCH building as a means of developing young Papuan talents proves that they can become agents of change.
