PYCH: Center for a New Civilization for the Young Generation of Papua

Papuan traditional leaders appreciate and support the existence of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) Building in Papua. They are sure that the building will become a new civilization for young Papuans, making the Land of Papua more developed and prosperous.

Community leaders, including the Chairperson of the Port Numbay Indigenous Peoples’ Institution (LMA), Ondoafi George A. Awi, thanked President Joko Widodo for giving his attention to the development of the Papuan people through PYCH. In his opinion, the structure of PYCH will provide space for all young people in Papua, enabling them to showcase their abilities and creations.

Appreciation from Various Parties and Elements of Society

George A. Awi acknowledged that he had visited every area of the PYCH building, observed young Papuans engaging in self-improvement activities, and observed preparations for President Joko Widodo’s opening of the PYCH building. He claims that the presence of seven of Papua’s traditional territories in the PYCH building is extremely representative and instills great pride in the Papuan people.

On this occasion, George A. Awi also thanked Budi Gunawan, the head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), for supporting young Papuans. Inspiring Young Papua (PMI), a BIN-supported initiative, aims to inspire young Papuans to drive the nation’s development. Also, he extended an invitation to all young Papuans to utilize the PYCH building’s resources for self-development. In addition, he urged everyone to support all PMI work programs.

In agreement with Ondoavi George A Awi, Secretary of the Port Numbay LMA, Eddy Ohoiwutun underlined the importance of the Regional Government’s participation in Papua so that the next generation can benefit from the structures constructed with traditional details. Not to be forgotten, Eddy also thanked Budi Gunawan, the head of BIN, for supporting young Papuans.

This is crucial for the PYCH building to serve as a foundation for developing a new culture among young people in the Land of Papua, enabling them to share the hopes of their parents, Ondoafi, and the nation as a whole for the future.

Papuan teenagers will carry out a number of projects at the building of PYCH in Jayapura to improve the well-being of the Papuan people. They will work together, advance individually, and continue to be the Cenderawasih Earth’s primary source of human resource growth for young people.

Get to know PYCH for New civilization for the young generation of Papua

The PYCH building is a response to President Jokowi’s September 2019 meeting with young people from Papua at Merdeka Palace. To give more room for Papuan and West Papuan youth to develop technology, innovation, and local Papuan products, the central government supports creating creativity centers.

The President claims that Papua and West Papua are home to many exceptional talents in many sectors, including science, the arts, culture, and sports. The Indonesian government, along with every other aspect of the nation, is accountable for providing a framework that will allow for the continued planning of developing these abilities, including organizing them.

President Jokowi aspires that PYCH will become a catalyst, a hub for cultivating young talent in the Land of Papua, as well as a hub for the invention and creativity of young Papuans in order to establish a strong ecosystem of technology and innovation.

Let’s hope that PYCH can become a new civilization for the young generation of Papua. Thus, Papua will be more advanced.
