A Brief on PYCH
Gedung Papua Youth Creative Hub is located in a 1,500 m2 area in Kelurahan Wahno, Abepura District, Papua. It was inaugurated in March 2023 and is easily accessible because it is only about 11 km from the Papuan capital, Jayapura.
Its main building is a 3,500-meter square area with plenty of accommodations such as music and photography rooms, a podcast room, MSME, and a multipurpose hall. Its supportive buildings consist of important structures such as a tribune, a library, a sports venue, and a parking lot.
President Jokowi hopes that PYCH not only becomes the center of the youth innovation forum but also opens a vast employment opportunity for young Papuan. This café supports local farmers by serving traditional food drinks such as Papuan coffee, mashed taro with fish, and sago. PYCH café not only offers job opportunities but also provides training such as food garnishing and baristas.
2. PYCH Catering
PYCH also has job opportunities for its catering unit due to its desire to cater to the needs of young Papuan incorporated in PYCH. Having their own catering is a great breakthrough because they can provide clean and healthy food at an affordable price. There is also some training in culinary and management so the youth can run the catering well.
3. PYCH Podcast
PYCH Podcast is amazing because it can become a means to boost young Papuan talents to work as cameramen, audio men, podcasters, presenters, or influencers. This podcast will help Papuan youth enhance their talents so they can excel in their particular skills.
4. Sago Processing
PYCH offers a modern way of sago processing so farmers can benefit from harvesting more products with a minimum effort and shorter time. Farmers in Kampung Asei Kecil, Sentani Timur District, are among the lucky farmers to achieve such a benefit because they can multiply their production.
A traditional method will only get six sago sacks for each sago tree, while modern processing can offer them 20 – 25 sacks.
5. PYCH Store
PYCH store is a smart means for MSME doers because it allows them to penetrate a wider market. The store has a good accomplishment because currently, its 124 MSME members are able to market their products nationwide. This is a positive achievement given that it helps increase their and their craftsmen’s income.
