PYCH Inauguration is a great event for the Papuan because it awakens their young talents. Therefore, they warmly welcome the facility by holding a festive cultural carnival to express their gratitude and enthusiasm.
Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) is the Indonesian resident and the State Intelligence Service (BIN)’s program to facilitate Papuan young talents. Thus, they will own the appropriate media to accelerate their skills and talents for their best benefit.
However, they will also participate in their region’s development by getting a job within the facility.
PYCH Inauguration and Carnival
The inauguration of PYCH took place on 21 March 2023, when hundreds of young Papuans were dressed in traditional costumes from Indonesia’s different provinces. They also sing the Papuan traditional song, Yamko Rambe Yamko, welcoming the Indonesian President, Jokowi, and his staff.
The carnival theme is the diversity of Indonesian cultures so Papuan youth can learn more about them. Aside from the traditional costume, these young Papuan also feature costumes from PYCH designers.
These young designers are very talented due to the richness of their designed costumes, of which the theme is Papua’s natural and cultural wealth.
There are hundreds of performers at the carnival, such as Papuan traditional dancers, the drum band Paskibra and many more. These performers are students from a number of schools in Jayapura who are prepared for the special event.
They must also prepare their stamina and health because they must walk 8 kilometers from Cendrawasih University’s Auditorium to the Papua Youth Creative Hub building.
The PYCH carnival coordinator, Dave Marcelino Kubiari, hopes this carnival is a great instrument, so many young Papuan will be curious and want to learn more about PYCH. Thus, they can explore and grow their skills, creativity, and innovations together for their best benefit.
What is PYCH?
PYCH, which stands for Papua Youth Creativity Hub, is an amazing facility due to its large area and plenty of facilities and opportunities it offers. This place is huge due to its 3,500 meters square area in Kelurahan Wahno, Abepura District, Papua.
Gedung Papua Youth Creative Hub is very Papuan owing to its adopted two types of Papuan traditional houses as its structure. Rumah Honai and Kariwari are among the famous house types in Papua, so PYCH chooses to adopt them.
PYCH is a promising program and facility because it has the capacity to help young Papuan channel their interests and talents for the best results. This is the right facility so they can improve and sharpen their abilities, creativity, and innovation for a better future.
PYCH Facilities
PYCH offers opportunities in many areas, such as fashion, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, technology, graphics, and more.
- PYCH consists of a main building, a sports venue, a tribune, a dormitory, a co-working space, and more.
- There is also an exhibition hall so Papuan youth can show their products and handcrafting or use it as a presentation room.
- The building is integrated because of many accommodations such as a theater room, music and photography rooms, podcast facility, dormitory, and culinary and health facility.
- The parking lot is quite spacious due to its ability to accommodate about 53 cars and 153 motorcycles.
- PYCH has a café and store that sells its products so the surrounding community can enjoy them. In fact, the administrators have managed to gather 124 MSMEs and promote their products to a wider market.
